Here, Now is an ongoing documentation of self in a new country, culture, home. In the summer of 2017 I left my native country, The United States, and moved to a tiny village in the south of France. I experienced intense loneliness from not being able to clearly express myself and could only speak through my partner who acted as my translator. My identity was being filtered through another party. Though I am more able to converse in French now, I am still trying to make myself a position in this place that still feels new, a place where I still feel as ‘other.’ And I am constantly trying to remind myself that I am HERE, NOW.
